Chief Translator's Words: It is a real challenge for a translator to translate a corporate motto or a greeting from the head of an organization. The language is often well thought out and has its own style and rhythm that should be preserved in the translation. The meaning and implication of the message can be profound that the translator has to be very careful about the choice of words. I usually have to create several different translations and compare them in terms of its meaning and rhetorical effects before deciding on one final version. I also read aloud the translation to make sure that it sounds right and retains the rhythmical beauty of the original language. It is certainly a tough job, but I find it fun and rewarding to do such a challenging job.
